Delana has been teaching 2nd grade for 3 years at Tipps Elementary. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Grand Canyon University. Delana and her husband, Barry, have been married for 30 years and have 3 adult children – Ashley (26), Abby (23), and Tristan (18). They have lived in Houston for 14 years and have been part of Copperfield Church for just over a year.
Delana has been blessed to serve in many preschools and children’s ministries, some as a volunteer and some on staff part-time, including Jacksonville, FL, Tallahassee, FL, Allen, TX, and here in Houston. Through those experiences, she developed a ministry philosophy that includes ministering to volunteers, siblings, parents, and other caregivers as well. She believes that ministry is about personal connections and includes lots of prayers.
As the Sharpe children were growing up, Delana was blessed to work for a small accounting firm, where she discovered a geeky side of herself that enjoys digging into reports, lining things up in nice, neat rows, and planning out details as she filled various roles in the firm. Over the course of the last 3 years, Delana has seen how the lessons she learned in ministry and the details of administration and accounting equipped her for the classroom, and she is really excited to bring those experiences together in the NextGen ministry at Copperfield Church.
